Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. Our doctors practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise including dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. We can also diagnose and treat oral cancer, facial injuries, and TMJ Disorders.
Dr. Christopher McFarlane, Dr. Michael McFarlane and Dr. Mark Ridenour practice oral and maxillofacial surgery at their offices in Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and Neenah. The practice has been serving patients in the Fox Valley for over 30 years. All members of the surgical staff at Winnebago Oral Surgery are experienced oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants, who assist in administration of IV sedation and surgery. All staff are CPR certified.
Dental Implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. The implant site may need to be prepared with pre-prosthetic surgery, which may include bone grafting to strengthen an inadequate jawbone.
